Im using the rda.push to push the data back to the SQL SERVER.

My SQL table is OrderDetail with a blank data inside?

My push was unseccessful due to the follow error, can any one help?

[code]

rda.Push("OrderDetail", rdaOleDbConnectString, RdaTrackOption.TrackingOffWithIndexes)

Error message:The table is not a tracked table

Any one got an idea of this problem, thanks!|||

You can only do RDA Push on table that has been RDA Pulled with Tracking ON.

RDA with Linked Servers

I am developing a WM5 program (C#.NET) using SQL Server Mobile, using RDA to pull and push data from/to SQL2005.

The question/issue is this: Does RDA work with linked servers, more specifically, if the RDA table is an Oracle table accessed through a linked server? I have a linked server defined in SQL2005, using the .NET Oracle provider (MSDAORA) linked to Oracle 10g. When I try to perform an RDA PULL operation from Windows Mobile 5 (Smartphone emulator) I get the following error:

“The query cannot be tracked. There might not be a primary key, or the query might involve multiple tables. [ Query string = SELECT * FROM DATABASE_NAME..SCHEMA_NAME.TABLE_NAME ]”

I have used at least 3 different test tables in Oracle, trying different options. The error message above implies that the table may not have a primary key but it does (constraint and index) and I have tried a few options with this. The message also implies that multiple tables may be involved but this is not the case either. I have tried variations on the select statement including specifying the columns. I tried building the CREATE TABLE statements with the PK using SQLServer to generate the SQL DDL to see if SQLServer might build the table, constraint, index with options the way it wants to see them – same result.

I can run most any queries (select, insert, etc.) from SQLServer using the linked server and the queries work. The only problems involve RDA to the linked server.

I tried turning tracking off on RDA and was able to pull the entire table from the linked server. However, RDA requires that you can only push a tracked table (change tracking on). I tried to push a non-tracked table and it fails.

Make sure that the table you are referring to is under DBO schema. If it is under any other schema, then RDA might be encountering problem in finding the Primary Key for that table.

Let me know the details after your trials!

All of the objects in the SQL2005 database are in the dbo schema. However, the query from RDA pull references an Oracle table in a named schema, using 4-part name notation "SELECT * FROM DATABASE_NAME..SCHEMA_NAME.TABLE_NAME " per the SQL2005 distributed query guidelines. In this case, the credentials for the linked server Oracle access are for the owner of the named schema.

Thanks,

Hi Matt,

Just to narrow down the problem. What happens when you are pulling a table in a named schema from SQL Server than from oracle via linked SQL Server. What I mean is have the table in a name schema in SQL Server itself and do a RDA with that.

RDA Push with Identity column

Hi Everyone:

I am new to Mobile programming. I am now working on a small mobile app.

I encounter an issue when I sync the data:

Using RDA Pull, I can create the database and populate my table fine on my pocket pc device.

After updating the data on the device, I encounter an error when I try to Push my table back to the back-end SQL Server 2005 DB.

Error: "The identity range was not established."

VB CODE:
Private Sub RdaConnKeyHeaderPush()

Dim RemoteAccess As New Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeRemoteDataAccess

RDAConnectingString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Persist Security Info=True;Data Source=<MySQLServer>;Initial Catalog=MobileKeyDB;" & _
"User ID=MobileUser;Password=<mypassword>"
RemoteAccess.InternetUrl = "https://www.<mysite>.com/SQLMobile/sqlcesa30.dll"
RemoteAccess.LocalConnectionString = "Data Source=Program Files\SQL Mobile\en\MobileKeyDB.sdf; Password = <mypassword>"
Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor
Try

RemoteAccess.Push("KeyHeader", RDAConnectingString, Data.SqlServerCe.RdaBatchOption.BatchingOn)

Catch RDAConnectionException As Exception
MessageBox.Show("Can not push Header Data: " & RDAConnectionException.ToString, "Loading Key Tracker")
Finally

RemoteAccess.Dispose()
End Try
Cursor.Current = Cursors.Default
End Sub

TABLE DEFINITION:
USE [MobileKeyDB]
GO

SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[KeyHeader](

[date_stamp2] [datetime] NOT NULL,
CONSTRAINT [PK_KeyHeader] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED

Anyone have any insight on a solution? Thanks.

For synch scenarios, you should always avoid identity columns, for an elaboration, see http://blogs.msdn.com/synchronizer/archive/2007/06/28/stay-away-from-auto-increment-columns.aspx|||

Ok....then I will try using the unique identifier.

RDA Push to a table that has an INSERT Trigger

Hello,

I posted under the Smart Devices VB and C# Projects forum as well, but since my question relates to SQL Server Triggers, I thought I might get some help here too. I apologize if this is not the correct forum.

I am using SQL Server 2005 Standard.

On my PC, on the table that I Push to from the device, I have a Trigger that sends an e-mail upon INSERT.

This trigger works (sends e-mail) when I run an INSERT against the table within management studio, or when I run an INSERT against the table from a web app on the same PC. (I also tested using an UPDATE, and the trigger worked.)

Here is my problem:

The trigger does not kick off after I successfully Push records from the device to the table on my PC.

Here is my c# Push code on the device:

rda.Push("tablename", rdaOleDbConnectString, RdaBatchOption.BatchingOn);

NOTE: I am not having a problem with the actual Push itself. That is working just fine.

On the surface it seems like an INSERT is happening (a new row appears in the table with the trigger), but does the Push do some other kind of action other than a true INSERT?

I can't seem to find anything about what exactly the Push is doing behind the scenes.

Can triggers be set for anything other than UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Patrick

According to this article: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa225639(SQL.80).aspx it should work, but you might have to use SET NOCOUNT ON in your trigger (if you already haven't)

If that doesn't work, try using profiler and see what commands are actually being sent.

|||

I realized that the Trigger on the table was causing problems. I decided to remove the trigger on the table I Push into. I then wrote a stored proc to INSERT INTO another table that contains a trigger. This trigger successfully sends the single e-mail.

Now, I want to send multiple e-mails. I'll enter another post.

RDA Push fails with SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition

Hello
I have a SQL Server 2005 (build 9.0.3050) database with tables belonging to
different schemas. I am in the process of developing a Windows Mobile 5.0
application that will work against this database, and Iâ'm planning to use
Remote Data Access with SQL Server 2005 CE to synch data.
I have my RDA all set up and working correctly IIS-wise, and have no problem
pulling a table from my database. However, when I attempt to push a modified
table back to the database, I get an â'Internal error: Failure setting up
bindings, possibly caused by insufficient permissions.â' error (which equates
to error 28621: SSCE_M_BINDINGS), which according to
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172898.aspx is an internal error
which â'cannot be resolved by common troubleshooting techniquesâ'. The
â'insufficient permissionsâ' is a red herring I think, since the problem
persists even if the SQL Server login that is being used for RDA is in the
sysadmin role.
Iâ've attempted to identify the problem by starting from scratch with a new
database and a new table with a couple of test columns. With the table
freshly created as dbo.TableName RDA works fine. However, when I create a
schema and transfer the table to the schema, RDA push fails as above, so to
me it looks like the schema is causing the problem.
Anyone any ideas about this? All help greatly appreciated!
Thanks - GrahamIn case this helps anyone else, I lodged a support call with Microsoft about
this and it has been confirmed that "SQL Server Compact Edition does not
support RDA.Push for non-default Schema tables". Hopefully this will be
fixed in the future.

the base table name. Crucially, the synonym must be named the same as the
base table ie 'CREATE SYNONYM dbo.MyTable FOR MySchema.MyTable'.

I see this message from time to time in my replication thread, and shortly afterwards processes using the SDF file will start complaining that it has been corrupted.

Here is the stack trace that I receive:

28037 : A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information, see HRESULT.

28581 : The message cannot be built. The Make Message failed.

at System.Data.SqlServerCe.NativeMethods.CheckHRESULT()

The only thing that I can think of that is unusual is that one of my tables has nearly 1,000,000 rows in it. I have no more than 16 columns in any table. My large table has only 7 columns.

What exactly does the message mean? Would this be causative of my sdf corruption problems, or symptomatic?

How can I determine what SP's have been installed so I can give you better information?

RDA Push Command Failing ...

Hi,

I am using the Pull command to pull two fields, on is the primary ID (int) non identity and the other is Description which comes down as an ntext type. This works fine but if I change the description and use the push command I get the following error:-

The Query processor could not produce a query from the optimizer because a query cannot update a text, ntext, or image column and a clustering key at the same time.

I am really stuck with this one so if anyone can shed some light on it I would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi All,

I have found the problem. Basically I am intergrating with another desktop / web based application making a PDA version so the SQL Server Database is already in place. I have found that each table has a cluster index on the primary key for performance issues. Can someone please advice if there is a fix for this or is the Push command not compatible with Clustered Index's?

Cheers very much,

Jiggy!

|||Just so you do not feel alone in the world... and MAYBE point you in a useful direction...

This has to do with the parameters being set by the connection, most likely. The way to test this is to run the same SQL statement in Query Analyzer and see if it works, if it does, then you need to attempt to set different paramters on your connection and/or command.

Hope this helps a little, if you find the solution, and/or paramters to pass, I'd love to hear about it.

I currently have a Vs.Net 2003 Pocket PC application that uses sql server ce 2.0 to push and pull data from Sql Server 2000 to the Pocket PC. The sscesa20.dll isapi agent is installed on a Windows 2000 server and points to another server that hosts the SQL database. In this configuration everything works like a charm. I am in the process of upgrading my application server to Windows 2003 Server but the RDA PULL process does not work, giving an Native Error of 28035 EVERY time. I use the exact same code in the app but when I point to the isapi agent on the 2003 box it does not work. When I connect to the the sscesa20.dll via the Pocket IE it returns the "Sql Server CE Server Agent" message. When I do an RDA.Submit it works and the SQL table is updated as expected.

I have configured IIS 6 with the proper web extensions
I have turned off the firewall and antivirus on the server.
I have reinstalled the server agent several times.
I set up the sscesa20.dll manually.
I removed all file level security.
I opened up the virtual directory.
I verified the ddl versions match.

I'm dead in the water right now. I'm not sure what else to try.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error 28035 indicated that the header information that the server tools are using to broker the RDA is missing or corrupted. The typical cause of this is that you have a security product somewhere in the path from your mobile device to the publisher (SQL Server) that is stripping off the content lengths on the replication HTTP dialogue. You need to completely disable any internet security products like Symantec or McAffee on both your IIS and your SQL Servers.

Darren,

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it's not the SQL Server because I don't get any errors when I RDA pull using the Windows 2000 Server implimentation of the ISAPI agent. I've turned off all the firewalls but my provider is a little hesitant to turn off the anti-virus products. I'm perplexed because everything works fine with my Windows 2000 Server. Everything points to this being a Windows Server 2003 specific problem. I'm going to work with the ASP to get the anti virus out of the equation too.

Hi Tstay,

Did you resolve the problem?

What is the behavior when you turned of Anti virus?

This error also occurs in case of SQL Mobile 3.0 Client Agent is trying to contact SQL CE 2.0 Server Agent (OR) SQL CE 2.0 Client Agent is trying to contact SQL Mobile 3.0 Server Agent. Make sure that you are using same version of SQL Mobile/CE both on device and as well as on IIS.

We turned off the anti-virus and the firewall and I'm still getting the error. The Sql CE version on the device and the server match. We have come to the conclusion that it's a 2003 or IIS 6 issue, so we have no choice to roll back the OS to 2000 until we have more to go on with 2003. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

RDA and PDA

i am working on a PDA application that uses RDA to push and pull data from
SQL SERVER 2000. I managed to synchronize with GPRS connection . But when i
disable GPRS and activate wireless connection, synchronization fails.
Message is something like that: "request to send data to the computer
running IIS has failed ......... "
I am sure, there is no problem with wireless connection. I can connect to
internet with it.
does anyone have an idea?
thanks so much..
from Pocket IE on your device, try connecting to
the SQL CE server tools dll in the IIS virtual directory.
http://{servername}/{virtualdir}/sscesa20.dll
if it fails, try the IP address.
if that fails, you do not have a valid network path to your server.

RDA - multi table error for tracking

Hello,

I receive an error message when I try to Push data that the table is not tracked. However, when I try to turn on the tracking option it gives me an error that the table is a multi query table and therefore cannot be tracked. Here is my code to Pull the table.

string TPDAPull = string.Format("SELECT Table1.Field1,Table1.Field2, Table1.Field3, Table1.Field4, from Table1 Left Join Table2 on Table1.Field1 =Table2.Field1 WHERE Table2.Field12='{0}'", this.FindWorker(var));

rda.Pull("Table1", TPDAPull, rdaOleDbConnectString, RdaTrackOption.TrackingOn);

This table does not have a primary key. I was wondering what can I do in this situation? I do not want to Pull the whole table. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am working in VS 2005, NCF2.0, C#, WM5.0.

Thanks in advance!

What about using a subquery?|||

You could make a single table view and pull this instead (but the view must reference only ONE table).

A primary is required if using RDA tracking. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172971.aspx

"A primary key must be defined on the updatable recordset returned by the SELECT statement. "

Thank you Erik and Graham for your replies. Erik I was wondering, can I use SubmitSql instead of Rda.push? The problem I am encountering is that I cannot change the schema of the SQL Server 2000 tables. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

|||Yes, of course you could use SubmitSQL, it can be used for any SQL statement that does not return rows (INSERT, EXEC sproc, UPDATE etc.)|||

Thanks Erik! I appreciate all your help.
